Important changes to hidden ticket types and packages

Created on 28 Jun 2025

We've made some significant updates to improve your ticketing experience. These changes affect some of your existing ticket type configurations and introduce new functionality. Please review the following changes to understand how they impact your events.

1. New packages feature

We've introduced a powerful new Packages feature that allows you to bundle multiple ticket types together at a set price. This gives you greater flexibility to create value packs, group bookings, family passes, and discount offers.

For detailed information about how to use packages, please refer to our comprehensive Packages feature help guide in the knowledge base.

2. Group buy ticket types have been converted to packages

What's changed: Group buy ticket types are no longer available as a ticket type option. Instead, we've converted all your existing group buy ticket types into packages, which provide the same functionality with improved flexibility.

What we've done automatically:

  • Your existing group buy ticket types have been converted to packages
  • The original group buy ticket types have been changed to "standard" type with visibility set to "hidden"
  • This prevents duplicate listings on your event page

Why this change benefits you: Previously, you needed to create separate ticket types for group discounts. Now you can create packages using your existing ticket types, eliminating the need for unnecessary duplicate ticket types.

Action required: Your converted packages currently show $0 (0%) discount because the old ticket type price matches the package price. We recommend updating these packages to use your standard ticket types (like "General admission") before any orders are placed.

Important limitation: Once orders have been placed for a package, you can only update the package capacity and visibility settings. All other changes must be made before the first purchase.

3. Secret ticket types replaced with access codes

What's changed: Secret ticket types are being phased out in favour of our new access codes system, which provides better functionality and security.

Current status:

  • You can still create hidden ticket types (functionality remains the same)
  • Existing secret ticket types will continue to work
  • You cannot create new secret ticket types
  • Links to hidden ticket types are now obtained by creating access codes instead

Benefits of access codes: Access codes provide more sophisticated control over ticket access and can be used across multiple ticket types.

Immediate actions you should take

Review your converted packages
  1. Go to your packages section in your event dashboard
  2. Review all converted group buy packages
  3. Check which ticket types they're currently using
  4. Update them to use standard ticket types (like "General admission") before customers place orders
Update your ticket strategy
  1. Consider whether you need multiple similar ticket types
  2. Consolidate where possible using packages instead of separate ticket types
  3. Use packages for group discounts rather than creating separate discounted ticket types
Plan for access codes
  1. If you were using secret ticket types, familiarise yourself with access codes
  2. Consider migrating to access codes for better control over ticket access
  3. Review your hidden ticket type strategy

Examples of the new approach

Before (old method):
  • General admission: $50
  • General admission group buy (10+ tickets): $45
  • General admission VIP group (20+ tickets): $40
After (new method):
  • General admission: $50
  • Package: "Group of 10" - 10 x General admission tickets for $450 (10% discount)
  • Package: "VIP group of 20" - 20 x General admission tickets for $800 (20% discount)

This approach reduces ticket type clutter while providing the same discount functionality.
