Access codes

Created on 15 Jun 2025

Access codes allow you to create special codes that give customers access to specific ticket types on your event page. This feature is perfect for VIP access, early bird sales, or exclusive ticket offerings.

Note: Secret ticket types are being phased out in favour of access codes

Before you start

To use access codes, you'll need at least one ticket type with its visibility set to "Hidden". Only hidden ticket types can be used with access codes, ensuring they remain exclusive to code holders.

If you haven't created any hidden ticket types yet, you'll need to do this first in your ticket pricing section.

Creating an access code

  1. Navigate to the Ticket pricing section of your event
  2. Look for the access codes area and click Create access code
  3. Fill in the required information:
Access code fields

Code Enter a unique code for your customers to use. The system will automatically convert this to uppercase, so don't worry about capitalisation.

EnabledToggle this on to activate the access code, or off to temporarily disable it without deleting the code.

Hide other tickets This option is turned off by default. When enabled, customers using this access code will only see the ticket types you've selected for this code - all other public tickets will be hidden from view.

Applicable ticket types Select which hidden ticket types customers can access with this code. You can choose multiple ticket types if needed.

Expiry Optionally set a date and time when the access code becomes inactive. Leave this blank if you want the code to remain active indefinitely.

Maximum uses Set a limit on how many tickets can be purchased using this code, or leave blank for unlimited uses. Each individual ticket purchased counts as one use towards this limit. For example, if a customer buys 3 tickets in one order, that will count as 3 uses.

Notes Add private notes for your team's reference. These notes are only visible to event organisers and won't be seen by customers.

  1. Click Save once you've entered all the required information

Using access codes

Once created, your access code will appear in the access codes list. From here, you have two ways to share access with your customers:

Each code generates a unique link that automatically unlocks the event page when visited. To copy this link:

  1. Click on the access code in your list
  2. Select Copy link from the dropdown menu
  3. Share this link directly with your customers
Sharing the access code

Alternatively, you can share just the code itself:

  1. Click on the access code in your list
  2. Select Copy code from the dropdown menu
  3. Share this code with customers, who can enter it when visiting your event page

Managing your access codes

The access codes list shows important information about each code, including:

  • How many times it's been used
  • Usage limits and expiry dates
  • Current status (active/allocation exhausted/expired)

You can track which specific customers used each access code by viewing your charges or attendee information. This data is also included when you export your guest list or orders, making it easy to analyse the success of different codes.

Tips for using access codes effectively

  • Use descriptive names in your notes field to remember the purpose of each code
  • Set expiry dates for time-sensitive promotions
  • Monitor usage regularly to see which codes are most popular
  • Consider using the "Hide other tickets" option for truly exclusive experiences

Access codes are a powerful tool for creating targeted marketing campaigns and providing special access to your most valued customers, and a great way to fine tune your ticketing.
