Transfering or changing the name on your ticket

Created on 29 Oct 2026, Updated 29 Oct 2026 08:22

Transferring your ticket to someone else

If you can't go to an event, you may be able to give your ticket to someone else. You create a secure transfer link and send it to them. When they open the link and sign in, the ticket moves into their name and your original ticket stops working.

Before you start

Have these ready:

  • Your ticket number – a code like GRYTX4JPMQ, shown on the ticket email you got when you bought it. This is not your order or receipt number.
  • The email address on the ticket – the email address the ticket was issued to.

Things to know:

  • You can transfer one ticket at a time.
  • We don't handle payments between guests for transfers. If the new ticket holder is paying you, organise the payment privately, and we suggest you get paid before you transfer the ticket. To have the payment handled for you, list your ticket for resale instead – see Transferring a ticket vs listing it for resale.

When a ticket can't be transferred

You won't be able to transfer a ticket if:

  • The event organiser has turned off ticket transfers for the event
  • The event has been postponed or cancelled
  • The event has already finished
  • The ticket type is non-transferable (for example, guest tickets)
  • The order the ticket came from has been refunded
  • The ticket is listed for resale – remove the listing from My resales first
  • The ticket has already been checked in at the event
  • The ticket has already been transferred or is no longer valid

If you see one of these messages and think it's wrong, contact the event organiser.

Step 1: Enter your ticket details

  1. Open your ticket email and click Transfer ticket in the Name changes / transfers section. If the ticket can't be transferred, the email will say so instead of showing the button.
  2. On the transfer page, enter your Ticket number and Email address exactly as they appear on your ticket. The ticket number is case sensitive.
  3. Click Continue.

Step 2: Generate a transfer link

  1. Check that the ticket details on the page are correct.
  2. Click Generate link.

The link is shown on the next page, and we also email a copy to the address on the ticket. The link expires after 48 hours and the page shows how much time is left.

Step 3: Share the link

  1. Copy the Transfer link and send it to the person you're giving the ticket to (for example by text message or email).
  2. They open the link and sign in, or create an account if they don't have one.
  3. If the event needs extra details from ticket holders, they'll be asked to fill in a short form.
  4. The ticket is transferred to them automatically.

What happens after the transfer

  • The new ticket holder is emailed their ticket.
  • You get an email confirming the transfer is complete.
  • Your original ticket is cancelled and can no longer be used for entry.

Checking or cancelling a transfer

Use the transfer status page to see where your transfer is up to. You can reach it from the link in the email we sent you, or by entering your ticket details on the transfer page again.

The status page shows one of these:

  • Transfer pending – the link hasn't been used yet. You can copy the link again or click Cancel transfer.
  • Transfer complete – the ticket has been transferred. The page shows who received it and when.
  • Transfer cancelled – the link was cancelled and no longer works.
  • Transfer expired – the link wasn't used in time.

A ticket can only have one active transfer link at a time. If you generate a new link, the old one is cancelled. If a transfer was cancelled or has expired, you still have your ticket. Click Start a new transfer to try again.

Common questions

Can I transfer a ticket to myself or another ticket with my email address?

No. If you open your own transfer link, you'll be taken to the status page so you can share it with someone else.

The person I'm sending it to already has a ticket. Can they accept mine?

For some ticket types, each ticket holder needs a different email address. If the person already has a valid ticket of the same type for the event, they won't be able to accept the transfer.

My link stopped working. What happened?

The link may have expired, been cancelled, or been replaced by a newer link. A link can also stop working if the event has finished or the ticket has been checked in. Check the transfer status page, and start a new transfer if you need to.

Does the person I'm sending it to need an account?

Yes. They'll be asked to sign in or create a free account when they open the link. The ticket is then added to their account.

Can I get my ticket back after the transfer is complete?

No, not yourself. Once the transfer is complete, the ticket belongs to the new ticket holder. They would need to transfer it back to you.
